Grants Programme on Hold

Our funds are very low at present and we will not be able to consider any new applications in March 2016.We will review the situation next year but prefer to prevent people spending a lot of energy completing a form meantime.

Invitation to the AGM 21st June 2014

Members and supporters are cordially invited to Wicked World Tours Annual General Meeting 21st June 2014 at 5pm at 58 Promenade Edinburgh EH15 2BS. There will be a short business meeting followed by an interesting talk. We are delighted that Gillian Pass will give us a short talk about her son’s adventure in Legoland. WWT was able to help the family undertake this trip. After the talking indoors we hope (weather permitting of course) to move out to the garden to enjoy ‘not the royal’ garden party with a barbeque. No dainty sandwiches and hats are optional. If you are planning to come it would be good if you can let us know (for catering). 58 Promenade has 7 steps at the front door on the Promenade but has level access from a door in the lane adjacent to the flat which runs between the flat and the Swimming Baths. Please let us know if you need help to come to the meeting or the Bar B Q. You can email us on wickedworldtours@gmail.com or phone Sheila or Margaret on 0131 669 3684

Sad death of Patrick Knox

We are so sorry to let you know that Patrick Knox died on February 12th this year after a very short illness. Patrick was a founder of Wicked World Tours and took part in the original tours with his brother Ali in 2003 and 2004. Patrick was a director from 2005 when he reached 21 years old and has been the central driving energy for Wicked World Tours since then. He became a Trustee when WWT became a SCIO.

Pach 001

As a small ‘family and friends’ type of organisation we miss Patrick sorely but in the mean time Wicked World Tours will  continue to raise funds for our grants programme and will continue to try to help people with disabilities to undertake adventurous and educational travel.

We would like to thank all those who donated to Wicked World Tours at Patrick’s funeral.

10th Burns Supper a big success

Ready for the guests to arrive.

Ready for the guests to arrive.

We had our 10th Burns’ Supper Fundraiser at the Fraser Centre in Tranent. We were able to invite twice as many people and we made more than twice the money! Thanks to everyone who worked  to make a great and successful night and to those who came and gave so generously. We had great music – piping and  singing, and we were delighted that our special guest Kate McSween was able to be at our top table. McSween’s have donated haggis for our Burns Supper for 10 years. And John has addressed the Haggis for 10 years – a dramatic and compelling performance each time – if a little hazardous for those next to him!

This year Dougie Muir proposed the Immortal Memory of Robert Burns – starting with his own personal rant and making a convincing case that we continue to celebrate this amazing poet. Hamish MacKay proposed the Toast to the Lassies – and he successfully blended Burns’s devotion to the lassies and his own contemporary take on the mystery and magic of women. Susan Moffat replied again drawing on Burns’s words but this time in song- beautifully and expressively sung.

Mary MC’d with her usual charm and competance.

It was fab to have Kate McSween with us - they have provided haggis for 10 years.

What a great disco!

The joint BBEL and WWT disco at the Brig was a great success.

Lots of tartan and lots of Saltire flags set the scene, Andi and Martin’s disco music was fabulous and got everyone dancing.  The buffet was outstanding and it was so great to meet friends and have a laugh.

There were fantastic raffle prizes and the whisky bottle challenge was really popular again- all in all a great night. Thanks for coming and making it a success.

Burns Supper Success

The annual Burns Supper was a great success raising over £500 for Wicked World Tours. A very entertaining evening with wonderful food – thanks again to the marvelous cooks and MacSween’s generosity. The speeches were all brilliant – original, interesting  and funny so thanks again to Pach, Jose and Lily. The Simpson family held it all together by hosting it , Ella MCing and John toasting the haggis in his own unique style.
